The light path of Projection Moire is similar to that of Shadow Morie. The gratings are laterally projected onto the structure, and the front CCD camera acquires the images of the structure and the reference surface. The height distribution of full field can be calculated once all the gratings distortions are evaluated from the deformation images.

Projection Moire systems can be widely used for mass control and robot vision of manufacture industries due to its advantages of direct evaluation of object shape, better fringes quality, convenience for computer processing, simple light path, and highly automaton. Projection Moire therefore has broad application prospect in engineering design.
